Minister of Trade of Indonesia met the Chairman of the Board


The Minister of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia, Her Excellency Dr. Mari E. Pangestu with the Chairman of the Board of St. Louis-Bogor Sister Cities Organization, Alexander Soetjipto.


On April 07, 2006, the Minister of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia visited Chicago, Illinois. During this visit the Minister met with the Chairman of the Board of St. Louis-Bogor Sister Cities Organization, Alexander Soetjipto.

In one on one meeting with the Minister, witnessed by the Indonesian Business Leaders and the advisors of the Minister, Mr. Soetjipto mentioned the planned visit of a Saint Louis Trade Delegation to Indonesia and the planned creation of the Sister State between the State of Illinois and the West Java Province of Indonesia.

The Minister is in support of the two plans. Several suggestions and plans had been discussed during the meeting. The St. Louis-Bogor Sister Cities Organization is in the process of bringing the plans into reality.

Trade Delegation to Indonesia

Announcement

As the follow up of the Visit by the President of Indonesia, H.E. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to St. Louis and the signing of agreement between the St. Louis County Executive, H. Charlie A. Dooley, and the Mayor of Bogor, Indonesia, H. Diani Budiarto to enhance socio-economic exchanges between the two communities (and countries), which were done on September 12, 2005, IndoSuccess and St. Louis-Bogor Sister Cities Committee in cooperation with World Trade Center Saint Louis and St. Louis Center for International Relations with the support from St. Louis County and St. Louis City Governments, Indonesian Consulate General in Chicago, Indonesian Embassy in Washington, DC, and other local, state, and federal entities and businesses are planning to send a trade delegations to Jakarta and Bogor in Indonesia.

As announced by the Director of the World Trade Center Saint Louis, Robert Heuermann, Jr. during a global event “Growing Global 2005” attended by close to 300 international businesses , which was conducted on September 23, 2005 in Ritz-Carlton, St. Louis, MO, the trade delegations plan to visit the countries of China, Vietnam, and Indonesia. The proposed time for the Delegation to visit Indonesia is October, 2006.

For the mission to Indonesia, the following is the proposed industries: manufacturing, retailing, education (on-line education), agriculture, and tourism. Any businesses and entities from Missouri and Illinois, which are interested in further information regarding this plan, are suggested to contact the World Trade Center Saint Louis.
