The Board Chairman / Principal of St. Louis-Bogor Sister Cities Organization


Alex Soetjipto

Biographical Sketch:

Mr. Soetjipto participated in projects conducted by the Center for International Studies at the University of Missouri- St. Louis under Dr. Joel Glassman and by the Center for International Education at Webster University under Dr. Joseph Stimpfl. Prior to this, he served as an affiliate of the United Nations in New York City. Mr. Soetjipto has assisted the Office of the Consulate General of Indonesia in Chicago and in Houston promoting business relations between Indonesia and several states including Missouri, Kansas, Illinois, Louisiana and Texas.

Mr. Soetjipto completed a Master of Business Administration degree in finance and a Master of Science degree in Management Information Systems at the University of Missouri-St. Louis in 2004. In conjunction with his academic achievements, he has been an instructor at St. Louis Public School and St.Louis Community College teaching subjects such as United Nations Model, International Conflict Resolution, Investment, International Business Culture, and Self Improvement Techniques.

Mr. Soetjipto has developed and refined his communication and leadership skills by his active participation in Toastmasters International during the past nine years. He served in various leadership positions including Club President and Area Governor. He has been the winner of several speaking contests conducted by Toastmasters International. Mr. Soetjipto is the holder of “Distinguish Toastmaster,” which is the highest recognition award bestowed to a member of Toastmasters International. He is also the founder of the Gateway Motivational Team, an organization serving aspiring public speakers in Saint Louis.

Mr. Soetjipto currently serves as a Board of Director and Principal of the St.Louis-Bogor Sister Cities Committee, a non-profit, and non-partisan organization to promote relations between the U.S. and Indonesia through the communities of St. Louis and Bogor. He is also a Principal of IndoSuccess, LLC, an international consulting organization serving the interest of the people of the US and Indonesia. In a previous career, Mr. Soetjipto served as a professional counselor and manager in the Indonesian American Hospitality Organization, an agency serving Indonesian immigrants in the U.S. For his community work and academic achievements, Mr. Soetjipto has been recognized by Focus St.Louis and by “Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities”.

During his active involvement with local politician in St. Louis Metropolitan Area, Mr. Soetjipto has developed a good relationship with several local politicians and business leaders. He is particularly proud of his service to Mr. Dooley and Mr. Slay in bringing the people of Saint Louis Metropolitan Area closer to the people of Indonesia.
